Travel Information

Geography: Halifax is located on the east coast of Canada.
It has an international airport with direct flights to major Canadian, American and European cities.

Climate: Due to the proximity of the ocean, the climate in Halifax in the late spring is usually more moderate than in most of Canada. High temperatures in late May could be expected to be near 18 C. However, the weather in May can be expected to be rather variable, ranging from warm and dry to cool and wet.

Getting Around:
The city of Halifax is a peninsula of overall dimensions about 3 km x 4 km. Therefore visitors can easily explore the city (restaurants, museums, waterfront, parks, etc.) on foot. There is also public transportation. For various maps of Halifax.

Attractions: Halifax is a very interesting city, and is the historical gateway to North America. It is located on the beautiful east coast of Canada, and on the world's second largest natural harbour. Its rich nautical and military history feature prominently in many of the city’s attractions. In addition, the province of Nova Scotia is a popular (but not crowded) vacation area.

It is a three-hour drive from Halifax to the beautiful province of Prince Edward Island, now accessible by a 13 km bridge from the mainland. For information concerning Prince Edward Island tourism, including Anne of Green Gables, visit PEI Online.
